Schemes Trade

The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) trade scheme, also known as the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS), aims to provide skilled workers to industries by offering systematic training to school leavers. The scheme is implemented by the Directorate General of Training under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. ITIs, functioning under state governments or private organizations, offer training in various trades, with durations ranging from six months to two years. 

Key aspects of the ITI trade scheme:

Objectives:

To equip individuals with skills for industrial employment, reduce unemployment, and provide a steady flow of skilled workers. 

Trades:

ITIs offer training in a wide range of engineering and non-engineering trades. 

Duration:

Training durations vary depending on the trade, ranging from six months to Two years. 

Eligibility:

Entry qualifications vary depending on the trade, typically requiring 8th or 10th class pass. 

Affiliation:

ITIs with necessary infrastructure are affiliated to conduct training courses as per the curriculum prescribed by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT). 

Admission:

Admissions to new courses are generally made in August every year. 

Upgradation:

The government has also initiated schemes for the upgradation of ITIs, including the National Scheme for ITI Upgradation and the establishment of National Centers of Excellence. 

Apprenticeship:

Upon completing ITI training, students can undergo apprenticeship training in different industries.
